Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has been sent to hospital just days after he took his place on the bench for the first time after nearly 8 weeks out.
Sturridge was an unused sub for the Premier League hammering of Manchester City and was set to take his place on the bench for the Europa League group game against Bordeaux.
His boss Jurgen Klopp confirmed ahead of kick-off at Anfield that his striker was sent for a scan on his foot and was out of the game.
"I cannot say much about this because we trained in the morning and then he had to leave," the German gaffer told BT Sport prior to the Bordeaux match.
"Now he will have a scan, but at this moment I cannot say more. We have to wait for the results."
Sturridge has yet to feature in a Klopp team with his last appearance coming in the Merseyside derby at the beginning of October.
