St Patrick's Athletic manager Liam Buckley admits they missed a real opportunity to progress to the next stage of the Europa League. Gleb Rassadkin got the goal that ended the Saints' European campaign for 2016.

They were beaten 1-0 by Dinamo Minsk and bow out 2-1 on aggregate after the Second Qualifying Round Second Leg.

After going in front on 18 minutes, Dinamo allowed the home side plenty of time and space as they chased a goal.

The visitors seemed content with defending the lead they had and the Saints began to pile on the pressure after the re-start.

The visitors resorted to time-wasting, a succession of cynical fouls and anything else they could do to disrupt St Pats momentum.

Referee Alan Mario Sant couldn’t control the game and he failed to deter the visitors from their persistent fouling.

Christy Fagan, Keith Treacy and Billy Dennehy all fell victim to being dragged to the ground to break up the play, much to the frustration of the capacity crowd in Richmond Park.

Four Dinamo players were booked while unused sub Vladimir Khvaschinski saw red after he waded in to a scuffle sparked by Christy Fagan.

The striker contested a 50-50 ball six yards out with the keeper, Sergei Ignatovich who went down like he’d been hit by sniper fire after the minimal contact.

Fagan and Sverchinsk went in the book for their troubles. Dinamo played no football in the second half they instead kicked, pushed and pulled their way into the next round of the Europa League.

St Pats boss Liam Buckley felt it was a missed opportunity and he was left perplexed that Dinamo’s persistent fouling went unpunished:
