Leicester City have dismissed reports that manager Nigel Pearson has been sacked.

It was widely reported on Sunday night that Pearson had paid the price for their current plight.

They were beaten 1-0 by Crystal Palace over the weekend, the foxes are bottom of the Premier League table - 4 points from safety.

It's not just results that leave him under pressure. He was involved in a touchline altercation with Crystal Palace player James McArthur, the player accidentally collided with Pearson. He then wrapped his hands round the throat of a prone McArthur.

In a statement the club said: "Leicester City Football Club would like to clarify its position relative to its manager, Nigel Pearson.

"Contrary to media speculation on Sunday evening, Nigel remains the club’s first team manager. Reports to the contrary are inaccurate and without foundation.

"Nigel, his staff and the first team squad are entirely focused on Tuesday night’s trip to Arsenal and our continued efforts to secure our position in the Barclays Premier League."

Pearson did not offer an apology for his part in the altercation.

"He collided with me, I'm more than capable of looking after myself." said the under pressure Pearson.
