A total of eight seats were reserved for the 'Duff family' at last night's Europa League tie between Shamrock Rovers and Progrés Niederkorn at Tallaght Stadium, but there was no sign of the international centurion.

There has been a lot of speculation this week that Damien Duff, who confirmed last March that he would play in the SSE Airtricity League, is set to sign for the Hoops.

Rovers boss Pat Fenlon played down the reports on Monday, when they emerged, although that was understandable considering it was in the week of such a massive European tie for the Tallaght based club.

If Duff was to sign for Rovers, the club would most likely to set aside a day unveil him and it is something that current Rovers winger Kieran Marty Waters would love to see happen.

Waters spoke to 98FM Sport's Stephen Doyle after his heroics in last night's 3-0 win and spoke of his desire to learn from the man who won 100 caps on the wing with the Boys in Green
