The agent of Kevin de Bruyne fears the Man City midfielder could miss Euro 2016 after the Belgium international tore ankle and knee ligaments in action against Everton last night.
It was confirmed tonight tonight that he will miss up to 10-weeks which would take him to mid-April and could leave his chances of playing in France hanging by a thread.
De Bruyne turned the League Cup semi-final second leg in Manchester City's favour and helped them to a 3-1 win, with a goal and an assist on the night, which got them to the final.
He has really been City's best and most consistent player this season and after moving from Wolfsburg in the summer has notched 11 goals and 14 assists in 30 appearances.
He would be tipped to light up the Euros and was set to clash with the Republic of Ireland in the group stages although his participation has been thrown into doubt by his agent Patrick De Koster.
"Kevin told me the only thing he can do is work hard and come back. Kevin is sad. His dream is to always be playing football.
"He will miss games like the League Cup final and in the Champions League, which are important."
City boss Manuel Pellegrini said today he was "optimistic" De Bruyne would make it back before the end of the season.
However when de Koster was asked if he could be a doubt for Euro 2016 he replied, “You never know. I’m not going to discuss that at the moment."
