James McCarthy is going nowhere- according to his Everton manager Roberto Martinez.
The Republic of Ireland midfielder had been linked in recent days with a move to Manchester City after an impressive season with the Toffees.
City failed in their bid to add Aston Villa’s Fabian Delph to their midfield last week.
And reports had suggested they were eyeing McCarthy instead.
But Martinez has insisted McCarthy is going nowhere.
“He is not for sale”, said the Spaniard.
“James McCarthy has been a top performer in the last few seasons and at the age of 24, he has already played over 300 games. He has young legs, brings a lot of energy and he is a vital part of our squad.”
