Isa Nacewa has undergone knee surgery and is facing a number of weeks out of action.
The veteran Leinster man twisted his knee in training last week and after visiting a specialist, it was decided surgery was the best course of action.
Head coach Leo Cullen couldn’t put a date on his return, but hopes he won’t be out for too long:
“He had a little bit of flare-up last week, he saw a specialist at the start of the week and had a key hole procedure done on Tuesday.
“Just had a little bit of a lose body taken out that was causing a little bit of irritation, it’ll be a couple of weeks to turn that around.
Cullen was reluctant to put a time frame on the 34-year-old’s return, but is confident he’ll be fit for the Champions Cup quarter-finals.
The Blues face Wasps at the Aviva Stadium on April 1st:
“We were fearing the worst, when a guy flares up at training and you send him to see a specialist you’re always fearing the worst.
“They were pretty happy with what he had done, it was pretty minor in the end. We’re talking a couple of weeks (out of action) at the moment.”
