Those backing the Heineken European Cup to be around next season have received a shot in the arm.
The International Rugby Board revealed any cross border competition which does not have the backing of the individual Unions will not receive their support.
This is seen as getting behind the Heineken European Cup and warding off any solo runs from clubs.
The English clubs have said they will not take part in the Heino next season.
