Damien Delaney has left the door open for a sensational return to the Republic of Ireland squad for Euro 2016.
The Crystal Palace defender had previously stated that his days in green were over.
He claimed that the 'future of Irish football does not lie with me' in an Instagram post last August.
Speaking after Crystal Palace’s 2-1 FA Cup final defeat to Manchester United, Delaney clarified the circumstances surrounding the end of his Ireland career.
Delaney made nine appearances for the Boys in Green, the last of which came in a friendly defeat by Turkey in 2014.
Martin O’Neill has previously told reporters that Delaney asked for assurances he would play and when they were not forthcoming from the Ireland boss, he refused to return to the fold.
O’Neill explained Delaney’s self imposed exile last summer saying: “I do not think that Damien, from his own viewpoint, would definitely come back to play if he was not guaranteed playing in the side and I cannot guarantee anybody a place in the side.”
Delaney told reporters at Wembley on Saturday that if he gets the call he would come back, but he’s not holding his breath.
He also dispelled what he described as the myth that he had sought assurances about game time. The 34-year-old says he never demanded to start at any stage during his career
The veteran defender told the Irish Sun he has no regrets and he’d be just as happy to cheer on the Boys in Green from the pub:
