On Saturday I witnessed the most miraculous of comebacks. The end was nigh, Ballyboden St Enda’s were brave but beaten. Their dreams of playing in the All Ireland club final on St Patrick’s day were dashed.

The obituary was written, the headline was written “Ballyboden’s Journey Has Come To An End”.

Then the incredible happened, Boden came from behind against all odds. A swing of 3 unanswered points midway through the second half looked to be decisive for Clonmel Commercials.

They were leading 0-9 to 0-6 and all hope of a comeback appeared lost when Declan O’Mahony was shown a straight red card.

The Firhouse Road men dug deep and the comeback started. Capped off by a fine individual effort from Darragh Nelson to rescue a draw.

In extra time they went on to win it by 0-15 to 0-10 victory. 98FM’s Darren Cleary spoke to Andrew Kerin after the game.

The sharp-shooter scored 0-7 for the Leinster and Dublin Champions. He admits he feared they were beaten:

The victory came at a heavy price. Declan O’Mahony’s straight red card means he looks set to miss the All Ireland final on Patrick’s Day.

Ballyboden St Enda’s will play Castlebar Mitchels in the decider, they beat Crossmaglen Rangers by 0-13 to 0-12 in their semi-final clash.

Boden boss Andy McEntee spoke to 98FM’s Darren Cleary after the game, he is gutted to lose O’Mahony for the final:
