The Irish rugby team came agonizingly close to beating the mighty All Blacks for the first time ever.

It finished in the Aviva stadium, Ireland 22. New Zealand 24.

But Joe Schmidt's men were leading by five points with less than 60 seconds left on the clock. Ryan Crotty crossed the line in the corner to break Irish hearts, and secure a draw.

Aaron Cruden then stood up and slot the ball between the posts and secured the win and create history for the All Blacks, as they became the first team in the professional era to win every game in a calender year.

But it had all looked so good for the Irish. Tries from Conor Murray and Rory Best gave Ireland a 14-0 lead by the 14th minute.

Rob Keaney added another five points, and amaingly, Ireland led 19-0 before the 20th minute.

But the All Blacks began wearing down the Irish in the second half. Julian Savea and Ben Franks crossed the line to cut the lead to just five.

It looked as though the Irish were going to hang on, until Crotty stole the show at the end.
