Ger Cunningham looks set to stay on as Dublin hurling manager for 2017.
The Boys in Blue were knocked out of the Championship by Cork at the weekend, and there was speculation Cunningham may be replaced as a result after two years in the post.
However, Dublin GAA Chairman Sean Shanley has told today’s Herald that he expects Cunningham to complete his three-year term next year.
“I can’t see him taking any drastic action”, Cunningham told the Herald.
“I would think he would stay on- and we don’t tend to sack managers in Dublin”.
Shanley also felt the Boys in Blue were unlucky to lose to Cork.
“It was always going to be difficult, but I thought we were the better team on the night”.
“If we had 15, I have no doubt we would have beaten Cork”.
Cunningham himself has insisted the future looks bright for Dublin hurling, despite Saturday's loss.
