Former Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has completed his move to Turkish Süper Lig club Trabzonspor on a three-year deal.

Twenty-nine-year-old Sturridge had been without a club since departing Anfield at the end of last season. He made 160 appearances, scoring 67 goals, during his six-year stint on Merseyside.

He was understood to have interested a number of clubs worldwide, with Real Betis, Marseille and Bologna all said to have made enquiries.

Trabzonspor's captain is the former Bayern Munich and AC Milan midfielder Jose Sosa, while they also signed striker Alexander Sorloth on loan from Crystal Palace this season.

The club finished fourth in the Turkish league last season. They have won the domestic title six times since their formation in 1967.

They will take on Greek side AEK Athens in the Europa League play-off round as they look to reach the group stages of the competition.

Trabzonspor saw off Czech outfit Sparta Prague 4-3 on aggregate in the third qualifying round of the competition.

Trabzonspor are based in the north-east Turkish city of Trabzon, on the Black Sea coast of the country.

Sturridge, who has scored eight goals in twenty-six senior international appearances for England, began with career with Manchester City before a move to Chelsea ten years ago.

He also spent part of the 2011 year on loan with Bolton Wanderers, and he had a similar spell at The Hawthorns with West Bromwich Albion last year.

Sturridge was banned from playing football for two weeks in July and fined £75,000 after being found guilty of breaching betting rules.

He was given a six-week ban, four of which were suspended, and was free to play again on 31 July.

Sturridge has two UEFA Champions League winners' medals, one with Chelsea from 2012, and the other picked up with Liverpool in May.

He also won a Premier League and two FA Cups during his time at Stamford Bridge, and was also picked on the PFA Team of the Year after the 2013-14 season.
