Dubliner Eoin Doyle looks set to move to Cardiff City and his transfer fee could top the £1 million mark.
The former Shamrock Rovers and Hibernian striker has struck 25 times (21 league goals) for Chesterfield in League One this season.
The Welsh club are currently 13th in the Championship and have serious promotion ambitions after their relegation from the Premier League last season.
Chesterfield chief exec Chris Turner has confirmed the clubs have done a deal worth six figures and which will make seven figures with add-ons.
