Emmanuel Adebayor scored twice as Spurs won 3-2 away to Southampton and hand Tim Sherwood his first win as Tottenham interim manager.

It may have been Sherwood's first Premier League game as a manager, but he is certainly went for the three points. He named Abebayor, Soldado, Lamela, Sigurdsson, and Eriksen in the starting 11.

It looked as though the plan had backfired as Adam Lallana opened the scoring after 13 minutes with a low drive past Hugo Lloris.

Adebayor equalized after 25 minutes with an absolutely cracking volley, from an inch perfect cross from Roberto Soldado.

Jos Hooivelt then put the ball past his own keeper to give Spurs a 2-1 lead. Lallana then turned provider who sent in an incredible ball, which was tapped home by Rickie Lambert.

Adebayor then scored his second of the game after 65 minutes to restore Spurs lead.

Roberto Soldado had a number of chances to give the visitors some breathing space, but couldn't convert. Tottenham have now jumped Manchester United into fourth place in the Premier League.
