Laois GAA have confirmed that Eddie Brennan has stepped down from his role as manager of the senior hurlers.

Brennan's management team of Niall Corcoran and Tommy Fitzgerald are also stepping away.

The eight-time All Ireland winner with Kilkenny enjoyed a successful two years in charge of Laois with the highlight a win over Dublin in the 2019 championship en route to the quarter-finals.

The O’Moore County lost to Clare by a point in this year's Championship after defeat to Dublin in the Leinster quarter-finals.

When asked about his future after the defeat to Clare, Brennan said: "We’ll have to wait and see. I took on this job for two years with a view to thinking about a third, so we’ll have to sit back and re-assess that."

However, Laois held talks with Brennan last week following his scathing assessment of the county board in an "off-the-record" interview.
