Dublin have been knocked out of the O'Byrne Cup after losing by a single point to DCU in Parnell Park by 3-8 to 16 points.

The Dubs lead by 7 points to 1-3 at half time with Cormac Costello getting three scores from play on his return to the County footballers.

Dublin then looked like they would pull away as they scored three quick points after the break. DCU responded with a goal to make it a one point game.

The Dubs went on another scoring spree as they hit five unanswered points. Rory O'Carroll then received a black card, as things began to unravel for Dublin.

With 11 minutes left, Dublin had a six point lead and looked set to reach the semi finals. But as Paul Flynn was given his marching orders, DCU stepped up a gear and began hitting scores at the business end of the game.

An injury time free levelled it up, but with the last kick of the game, Davey Byrne put DCU into the semi finals of the competition.
