Kilkenny: 1-17
Dublin: 1-15
Disappointment for the Dublin minor hurlers.
They have come out at the wrong end of a 1-17 to 1-15 scoreline after a thrilling Leinster Final at Croke Park.
Dublin trailed by 2 points at the break, but they only had the sharp shooting of midfielder Matthew Oliver to thank for keeping them in the game in the opening period.
He hit all but one of Dublin’s scores in the first half.
His 7 points all coming from placed balls in a fantastic first half performance.
That meant Dublin trailed by just 2 points at the break- an early Kilkenny goal from Tadhg O’Dwyer the difference between the sides at half time.
The second half started with a bang for the Boys in Blue.
Half time sub Alex Considine made an immediate impact, scoring a well taken goal just seconds after coming on at the break.
After that, it was nip and tuck, as the sides exchanged the lead.
Dublin hit 5 points in-a-row to lead by 3 with 15 minutes to go.
But, again, Kilkenny fought back to level.
Dublin then pulled 2 points clear with 4 minutes left.
But they faded in the end, as Kilkenny ramped up the pressure in the closing stages.
The Cats scored 4 points without reply right at the death to claim victory and retain their Leinster crown on a scoreline of 1-17 to 1-15.
