There has been huge disappointment for Ireland's women's hockey team this afternoon.
They have been beaten by China in their World League 3 quarter final clash in Valencia.
The game ended 1-apiece, with Chloe Watkins’ goal for Ireland in the third quarter cancelling out China’s first quarter opener through Zhang.
The match then went to penalties.
Substitute goalkeeper Ayeisha McFerran was brought on for the shoot-out.
And that decision by coach Darren Smith worked well, with McFerran making several crucial saves.
Nicola Evans had the chance to win the shootout for Ireland, but her attempt was saved.
Megan Frazer hit the post in sudden death, however McFerran saved Ireland with another stop.
Anna O'Flanagan then missed her penalty, with Liang sealing the win for China, as it ended 4-3.
Despite the defeat, Ireland can still reach the Oympics in Rio next year.
Only the top three were ensured of reaching Rio, the teams which finish fourth, fifth and sixth could still qualify, depending on results from other continental tournaments.
Ireland had been excellent throughout the competition, earning surprising wins over the USA and South Africa.
