Republic of Ireland midfielder Darron Gibson has been charged with drink-driving, after colliding with a cyclist.
The alleged incident happened close to his home in Cheshire last Sunday.
According to The Sun newspaper, Gibson hit the cyclist in his car and failed to stop, fleeing the scene.
He then pulled into a nearby petrol station and crashed into a set of petrol pumps, before finally coming to a halt.
It’s thought the cyclist sustained minor injuries.
The 27 year old will appear before magistrates next month.
Gibson has missed the start of the season with Everton through injury.
The former Manchester United midfielder has not been included in the Republic of Ireland squad for the upcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers against Gibraltar and Georgia as a result of the injury.
