Ciarán Kelly swaps St. Pat's for Bohemians as Gypsies squad swells to 25

Bohemians have signed defender Ciarán Kelly from Dublin rivals St. Patrick's Athletic.

The 21-year old centre-half made 25 appearances for the Saints last season in the SSE Airtricity Premier Division.

Kelly becomes the 25th player contracted to the upwardly mobile Bohs for the 2020 campaign.

Bohs manager Keith Long is delighted to get the deal done with the new season just a month away, telling the club's website, "We welcome Ciarán to the club. I believe he’s going to be a great addition to our squad.

"He’s young, he’s hungry and we are looking forward to working with him."

Lucan native Kelly joined Pat's as a 17-year old and made his breakthrough to first team football while with Drogheda United in the 2018 season.

Bohemians are slated to begin their season at home to old foes Shamrock Rovers on Saturday afternoon, February 15.

With European football on the horizon, and a growing sense the Gypsies can close the gap on the Premier Division's top two in the season ahead, Long has been busy in the off season.

He's added the likes of Kris Twardek, Glen McAuley, Anto Breslin and prodigal sons Dan Casey and JJ Lunney to a squad already brimming with talented young players.
