Cheveley Park Stud remove horses from Gordon Elliott's yard

Cheveley Park Stud have announced that they've withdrawn their top horses from trainer Gordon Elliott.

Yesterday they said they were "truly horrified and dismayed" at a photo of Elliott sitting on a dead horse, which the Meath handler admits was "indefensible".

Cheveley Park had initially vowed to await the findings of an Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board investigation but racing director Richard Thomas has confirmed that their horses are heading to other trainers ahead of Cheltenham.

"We've taken the decision in the last few hours to move the horses from Gordon's yard," Thomas told Sky Sports Racing. "We have eight there and they'll go between Henry de Bromhead and Willie Mullins. The logistics are happening right now.

"Of the big names Envoi Allen and Quilixios are going to Henry. Sir Gerhard goes to Willie. Hopefully with trainers like them and the Cheveley Park team headed by Chris Richardson we have the real professionals on the job who are able to resolve this very quickly and smoothly.

"That's what w'ere hoping for and I have no reason to doubt it. It's very unfortunate timely obviously."

De Bromhead will now train Malone Road, Ballyadam, Envoi Allen and Quilixios. While Classic Getaway and Sir Gerhard will both joined Willie Mullins' yard.
