Brian O’Driscoll has been involved in something of a Twitter spat over the past 24 hours.
He was quoted over the weekend suggesting Australian Adam Ashley Cooper’s move to Bordeaux was more motivated by money than by winning trophies.
"You have to weigh up everything and money is going to become a really big factor in all this," he said.
"Adam Ashley-Cooper didn't go to Bordeaux to win Top 14 titles, he went for a bit of sunshine and a bit of money."
Ashley-Cooper, who has 114 caps with the wallabies, took exception to the comments, and voiced his unhappiness on Twitter:
Hi @BrianODriscoll. Regarding the below... I disagree. Strongly. pic.twitter.com/mUq9YY2uzv

But BOD didn’t back down:
@AdamCoopy that quote is incorrect. It should have said 'pension' instead of 'a bit of money'... And there's no shame in that!

Ashley-Cooper got a quip in about the end to O’Driscoll’s career:
@BrianODriscoll haha well i guess there's no shame in playing your last 2 seasons hanging on for cash then either?
— Adam Ashley-Cooper (@AdamCoopy) December 20, 2015
But BOD had the perfect response:
@AdamCoopy actuellement (French for actually) a Lions Series, a 6 Nations and two Pro12's!!! The few bob was an added bonus! #whatevs #😉

@BrianODriscoll Thanks for your rugby CV mate and well done on those achievements ðŸ‘ðŸ‘ðŸ‘

Ashley-Cooper’s brother Matt got involved:
@AdamCoopy @BrianODriscoll Lot of respect lost here Bryan And FACT: you were dropped for game three of the lions series #Ouch #Gatland
— Matt Ashley-Cooper (@biggyAC) December 20, 2015
But BOD was eager to play down the whole episode as friendly banter:
@biggyAC @AdamCoopy you should really just laugh at it and not take life too seriously pal!
