Brian Gartland is back in the reckoning for Dundalk's Champions League play-off first leg tomorrow at the Aviva Stadium.
The defender has been sidelined for a number of weeks with a broken wrist suffered in the victory over FH Hafnarfjordur at Oriel Park in the second qualifying round.
Gartland missed the heroic 3-0 victory over BATE Borisov, which saw them progress 3-1.
He has been given the all clear to play against Legia Warsaw with a protective cast.
Manager Stephen Kenny is delighted to welcome the experienced defender back:
“Brian Gartland has been declared fit to play. He broke his wrist in the game against FH and the surgeon has given him the go-ahead to play with a particular cast that is within the laws. So Brian comes into the squad.”
Doubts linger about the possible involvement of Ronan Finn and Patrick McEleney. Both are currently out of action with groin injuries.
Finn went off in the first half of the victory over BATE at the Tallaght Stadium and hasn’t featured since.
Kenny will give the pair every chance to prove their fitness. Dundalk enter this game on the back of successive losses to Galway United and Bray Wanderers.
