Leinster Senior Football Championship Quarter-Final

There was an apocalyptic feel to the Gaelic Grounds for about 20 minutes before the match threw in but Ballyboden dealt best with the terrible conditions and heavy pitch and thanks in part to a Colm Basquel goal are now into the Leinster football semi-finals.

There was a couple of late positional changes but just one player change to the Boden team that started the win in the county final with Ryan Basquel, who was excellent against St Vincent's, out of the forward line injured and Sam Molony brought in.

Boden got off to a slow start against the dominant side in Louth who have won three of the last four county titles and had the talismanic Paddy Keenan in their engine room.

He gave his side a 3 point lead in the 12th minute after Karl White hit an early point and a free on a pitch which was really in a bad state after the torrential rain before and after throw-in.

The Dublin champs eventually got to grips with the game as they played into a strong wind but levelled the match up with frees from Conal Keaney and Andrew Kerin plus one scored from play by the latter.

Pats led at the break thanks to a late Daniel O'Connor free but just 6 minutes after the restart and another Kerin free, Boden forward Basquel blasted the ball into the roof of the net after some hard work to create the chance by Darren O’Reilly.

3 Paddy Keenan frees kept Pats in the rear view mirror but a couple more Kerin frees and two impressive injury time points from play scored by Keaney sealed a 4 point win and a semi-final date with Westmeath champs St Lomans.
