"It'll be Darren," Packie Bonner tells 98FM Sport's Stephen Doyle without taking pause for thought when asked who will be the Republic of Ireland's number one for that all-important World Cup qualifier in June.
Austria roll into town next month seeking to avenge their defeat to the Boys in Green on their own patch last November but will Darren Randolph retain his place between the sticks for the home team?
The Bray native took over from Shay Given as custodian of the Irish nets in the famous win against Germany at the end of 2015.
But following a prolonged run at club level this season, with 22 consecutive Premier League starts, the West Ham goalkeeper has been dropped for the last four matches as manager Slaven Bilic recalled Spaniard Adrian.
Meanwhile Keiren Westwood has been flying with Sheffield Wednesday who host Huddersfield Town tomorrow in the second leg of their Championship play-off semi-final which is scoreless after the first leg.
Westwood has kept 15 clean sheets in 43 league appearances as the Yorkshire club finished up the regular season with the second best defensive record in the Championship.
All that considered, Bonner believes that Randolph has too much quality to be cast aside midway through the campaign.
"He's a good goalkeeper. He's proved he's a good goalkeeper. He's also proved that he can handle the big occasion. He kicks the ball well.
"He'll go now with the squad, he'll be working hard and I would be shocked if it wasn't Darren [selected to start against Austria]."
Meanwhile, the Italia '90 hero also told 98FM Sport that he wasn't surprised in the slightest after fellow Donegal man Seamus Coleman was handed captain's armband.
"I was his biggest advocate because I could see it in him. There was a game, and he was up to somebody's face with his fist and he was giving them a go, so no I wasn't surprised.
"Now he's still a young man of course but that's in him so I'm not surprised.
"Of course then getting injured was a big, big blow to him," says Bonner of that horrific leg break suffered in action against Wales and he feels it leaves a massive void in the team for the rest of the World Cup campaign.
"They'll miss him...they'll miss him because he had a bit of an influence around the dressing room and they'll miss him. Somebody else will have to step in and that's the nature of football.
"He'll come back. As long as he comes back and gets back to where he was playing again, because it is a tough injury to come back from there's no question."
Bonner has full faith in Coleman's mental strength and modern medicine to get the Everton back to his tenacious best but does he have faith in Messrs O'Neill and Keane to guide Ireland to the top of Group D and automatic qualification?
"The next home game is critical and the game away to Georgia is critical, those two games. I'd forget about the rest just now.
"Concentrate on this one [vs Austria], get the three points. I don't think we can drop anything at home now in this game. We need to get the three points in this one.
"And then...then it'll be looking as if we can really top the group."
