Former Dublin footballer Alan Brogan has described Diarmuid Connolly's 12 week suspension as harsh.
The St Vincent's sharp shooter is facing a spell on the sidelines that would rule him out until a potential All Ireland semi-final.
“He’d be the first to admit that (he should’ve known better) it’s a costly mistake he’s made but I don't think he was being particularly aggressive when he touched the linesman.
“I think it was more a case he was trying to explain something to him, I think it's a harsh suspension for what it looks.”
Brogan feels Connolly should have appealed the proposed 12 week ban handed down to him by the CCCC.
“These appeals are not doing the whole process any favours either its caused a lot of confusion.
“I think if Diarmuid was hit with a two game ban this morning, miss the rest of the Leinster Championship, they would probably take that.
“Whereas 12 weeks and three games, just seems a lot to me.”
Brogan was speaking as the GAA and GPA announced a new partnership with Pat the Baker to promote the new Protein Bread.
The five year revenue share agreement will see a percentage of all sales going towards the GPA Player Development Programme, supported by the GAA.
The Programme assists county players in critical areas of their off-field lives including education, career and personal development, health and wellbeing.
