Eleven Dublin footballers have been nominated for the GAA/GPA All Stars this year.

The Boys in Blue and Mayo dominate the 45-man shortlist- the All-Ireland final runners up also have 11.

For Dublin, goalkeeper Stephen Cluxton is in the running to win his sixth All-Star. Mayo’s David Clarke, who was controversially dropped for the All-Ireland final replay for Rob Hennelly, is also nominated.

Defenders Jonny Cooper, Philly McMahon, Cian O’Sullivan, John Small and James McCarthy are also nominated.

Brian Fenton is Dublin’s only midfield representative on the shortlist.

While forwards Ciaran Kilkenny, Diarmuid Connolly, Dean Rock and Kevin McManaman make up Dublin’s representation.

The shortlist was a good one for Ballymun Kickhams:

Outside of Dublin and Mayo, Tyrone have 6 players on the All-Stars shortlist.

Tipperary have 5, Kerry and Galway have 4, Donegal have 3 and Clare 1.

The GAA/GPA Opel All-Star team will be selected next month by a panel of national Gaelic Games Correspondents.

Brian Fenton and Ciaran Kilkenny are also nominated for the Footballer of the Year award, alongside Mayo's Lee Keegan.

It continues a very good few days for Fenton, who was also nominated for September's Opel GAA/GPA Player of the Month yesterday.

Tipperary pair Josh Keane and Jimmy Feehan are up for the Young Footballer of the Year, alongside Mayo’s Diarmuid O’Connor.

The Players of the Year awards will be voted upon by the players themselves.

The awards will be presented at a special banquet in the Convention Centre on Friday, November 4th.
