Sinead O'Connor has retracted her recent retirement announcement.

The singer-songwriter announced last week she was stepping away from her music career after a recent interview she slammed as "insensitive".

Sinead agreed to the interview to promote her new memoir "Rememberings".

In a statement, the "Nothing Compares 2 U" singer says there is a "huge misconception" that she's "Amazonian".

"I'm not. I'm a five foot four inch soft-hearted female who is actually very fragile," she wrote.

The singer said that, as a result of "the astonishing support" she's received, she'll continue to perform.

She described her announcement as a "knee-jerk reaction" and promised that she has every every intention to "keep on being fabulous".
