A post mortem will take place today on the body of a man in his 40s who died following an assault in Blanchardstown in Dublin.

Two others were seriously injured in the incident.

The fatal assault happened at Ashfield Park at around 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon.

The man in his 40s was taken to James Connolly Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead. A post mortem will be carried out today, which will help Gardaí determine the course of the investigation.

Two others, a man and a woman in their 20s, were also seriously injured. They were taken to the Mater Hospital for treatment. It’s understood a child was also in the house at the time but wasn’t injured.

Detectives say they're not looking for anyone else in relation to this incident at this time.

Investigating Gardaí are appealing to anybody with information, or any road users with dash cam footage who were in the Ashfield Park area between 12 noon and 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon, to contact them at Blanchardstown Garda station.
