A woman with Down syndrome says she’s too scared to go out on her own since she was lured back to a Dublin flat and raped in June 2013.

Faisal Ellahi, a Pakistani man who moved to Ireland over ten years ago, was convicted following a five-week trial that finished up just before Christmas.

Today the victim's mother read out her Victim Impact Statement saying she will never forget the day her “beautiful, innocent, and care free” daughter encountered “utter depravity.

Faisal Ellahi claimed they had 'consensual sexual contact” and that he didn't know she had an intellectual disability.

The sentence hearing will continue hearing from Mr. Ellahi’s barrister next week.
