Coolock Woman Killed In Crash Involving Off-Duty Garda

A woman killed in a crash involving an off-duty Garda has been named as Jacqueline Wolohan from Coolock.

The 51-year-old died - and two children and another woman were injured - on the M4 Westmeath-Meath border late last night.

A GSOC investigation's been launched into the collision on the M4 near Kinnegad in the early hours of this morning.

Sevices were called to the scene - on the M4 near Kinnegad about a mile from the junction with the M6 - at about 1.30 this morning.

A woman in her 50's died and four others - an off duty Garda, two Children and a woman - have all been hospitalised following the two crash on the eastbound carriageway.

As the incident involved a member of the Gardaí - the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission - has launched an investigation into the crash.

GSOC is appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision - anyone who may have seen a blue Opel Astra, 2005 registration, or a silver Nissan Micra, 2004 registration to contact them on 1890 600 800.

The route between J12 Kinnegad West and J9 Enfield is expected to remain closed for a number of hours to allow a forensic examination of the scene.
