It's understood wife killer Eamonn Lillis is refusing to leave prison this afternoon.
The 57-year-old has spent the past five years in jail for killing Celine Cawley at their home in Howth in 2008.
He was sentenced to almost 7 years for manslaughter but his jail term was cut short due to good behaviour.
Photographers, reporters and TV camera crews have been camped outside the gates of Wheatfield prison since the early hours of this morning.
Since he was jailed in 2010, he’s become a millionaire from the sale of the mansion where he beat Celine to death with a brick.
He’s also benefited from the sale of other properties they owned together and a now dissolved TV production company.
Lillis’ actual release date isn’t until tomorrow but he’s been reportedly offered temporary release today, an offer it's understood to have turned down because of the media presence outside the prison.
He’s expected to leave the country for the UK as soon as he walks through the prison gates.
