After weeks of controversy Web Summit 2015 kicks off in the city later.

Thirty thousand people are expected to descend on the RDS for this years event before it moves to Lisbon in 2016 for at least 3 years.

Nine stages will host talks from today until Thursday about the latest issues affecting technology, sport, media, enterprise and society.

Author Dan Brown, Instagram founder Mike Krieger and President of Pixar & Disney animation Ed Catmull are just some of the high-profile guests.

But one guest who won't be there is Taoiseach Enda Kenny after he got a last minute invite.

His department was embroiled in a row with organisers about supporting the size of the event before the decision was made to move away.

It's a massive blow to Dublin as last year's summit generated 100 million euro for the local economy.
