Fine Gael and Labour want the cap on water charges to be extended until 2021.
The Irish Times reports that if the coalition is re-elected, they're considering linking the maximum amount a householder will pay in water charges to the rate of inflation.
The cap now stands at 160 euro for a single-adult household, and 260 euro for a household with two adults or more.
At the moment, these charges apply until December 2018.
