The ESRI is warning that there may not be enough office space in Dublin for expanding foreign companies locating here.

Close to 70 percent of the take-up of office space in the first half of this year was for new and existing foreign direct investment firms, mainly in the technology sector.

There was no office construction in Dublin between 2011 and 2013 due to the economic downturn and the ESRI says with city centre vacancy at just five percent, expanding companies may have to wait 12 months for available space.

The think-tank says it's imperative that future growth is not constrained by the availability of commercial property.
