US politicians are being asked again to back new construction regulations to avoid a repeat of the Berkeley collapse.
The California State Senate refused by a single vote to pass new regulations last month.
But it's now emerged a new revised bill will be brought forward next January.
Six Irish students died when a 4th floor balcony collapsed in Berkeley in June.
Seven others were badly injured when the structure gave way due to dry rot.
Central to the new regulations will be the reporting of all claims settled by construction companies and sub-contractors.
But its claimed that the construction industry is opposed to the measures.
