From July, every child in Ireland under the age of six should be able to see a doctor for free.

The Department of Health has agreed a multi-million euro deal with GPs, who don't have to sign up to the scheme.

The government's increasing funding by €30M as part of the deal with the Irish Medical Organisation.

The Junior Health Minister says the scheme should be up and running by mid-July.

Kathleen Lynch has admitted that it will be left up to individual GPs to decide if they want to take part in the scheme.
