University College Dublin is the leading Irish university in a new global rankings.
The criteria is based on the performance of individual subject departments.
UCD ranks in the top 10 for 13 subjects including two in the top 50 - Veterinary Science comes in at 29th and English Language and Literature in 45th position.
Trinity College saw its share of the 100 places drop from 16 to two which includes a 36th place for Nursing.
Harvard University is the top university ahead of Massachusetts Institue of Technology which came in second.
