Two schools remain closed this morning as the schools building controversy continues. St Luke's National School and Tyrrelstown Educate together won't open their doors to students.

They had planned to reopen the ground floor of its school today, however last night officials from the school announced that remedial works were not sufficient.

In a statement, Principal Vivienne Bourke said the site was not finished to a 'high enough standard to ensure the safety of everyone who would be using the building'.

School reps will meet officials from the Department of Education today to ask that the building be finished to a more 'satisfactory standard' before its returned.

In a statement yesterday evening, the Department announced that precautionary measures at 22 schools were on schedule for completion before they were due to reopen this morning.
