A teenager and a man in his 20s have been arrested after a handgun was seized in Tallaght last night.
They were detained after Gardai stopped and searched a car on the N81 at around ten o'clock.
Officers say it was part of an operation targeting criminal activity in the south west Dublin area.
A 16 year old and a 21 year old were taken to Tallaght Garda station for questioning.
They can be held for up to 3 days.
