Scientists in Trinity College Dublin say their invention could revolutionise certain types of healthcare, and help fight cot death.

Researchers found a way of infusing shop-bought rubber bands with a lead-based nano-material graphene - turning it into a conductor.

The scientists found that the current responded to stretching, meaning it could sense movements, like breath and pulse, when it's attached to clothes.

They say the discovery could be developed into an early-warning system for cot death.

Jonathan Coleman is a professor of Chemical Physics at TCD.
