Thirty five year old Saverio Bellante from Palermo, Sicily, is accused of stabbing his landlord Tom O'Gorman to death at the house they shared at Beech Park Avenue on January 11th or 12th 2014.
A jury of seven men and five women was sworn in at the Central Criminal Court on Monday and the trial will formally begin today before Ms. Justice Margaret Heneghan.
Medical and garda witnesses will be among those called while Mr. Bellante's barrister Sean Guerin told the court that insanity will be an issue and the trial will be short as a result.
Once underway, the trial is expected to last two days.
