Flights to repatriate tourists from Sharm el Sheikh will begin today, with passengers only allowed to bring hand luggage.

Services were suspended in the wake of the downing of a Russian airliner at the weekend now believed to be a terrorist attack.

Airlines including Thomson, Monarch and EasyJet say they'll resume flights to the UK and there may be Irish passengers on board, who booked through British operators.

Security at the resort's airport has been tightened.
