The housing charity Threshold says it prevented a record number of people from entering homelessness in the first three months of the year.

They supported over 1,200 households to stay in their rented homes.

That meant 1,700 adults and 1,300 children were saved from homelessness from January to March.

The organisation's Ann-Marie O’Reilly says it's worrying to see so many people needing help

''It really is becoming very difficult for renters. It's very worrying and really stressful. The advisors for the past 12/15 months or so are seeing renters becoming increasingly stressed, very worried and very anxious and really struggling to find somewhere to live. ''
