The three siblings who died this morning in tragic circumstances in Tallaght have been named as 18 year-old Lisa Cash and 8 year-old twins Chelsea and Christy Cawley.

Their 14 year-old brother remains in hospital with serious injuries.

Gardaí in Tallaght continue to investigate the deaths of the three siblings, in connection to what they've described as a violent incident on Rossfield Avenue in the early hours of this morning.

A man in his early 20s was arrested at the scene and continues to be detained at Tallaght Garda Station.

It's understood that Lisa, Christy and Chelsea had all been stabbed - they were rushed to hospital but were later pronounced dead.

Their brother sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries and remains at Tallaght University Hospital

Their mother, a woman in her 40s, has been released from hospital and is currently being supported by her family.

The scene remains preserved for forensic examination, and post mortems will take place on the deceased this evening and tomorrow by State Pathologist Dr Sally Anne Collis.

Locals say they heard sounds of struggle and violence spill out onto the street early this morning.

Supports are being organized for those who are grieving or in shock at this tragic loss of young life.
