A horse, which was hit by a Dublin bound train this morning, has died.

The 06.35 Kildare to Heuston service was involved in the collision near Adamstown.

Three other horses who escaped major injuries have been taken back to safety.

There were delays of up to 30 minutes on part of the line as a result.

Services are back running as normal now.

Spokesperson Barry Kenny gave this update;

"The train had to be checked to ensure there was no damage, thankfully there wasn't, and also the line checked to ensure it was clear."
