The makers of the Black Stuff have announced a series of gigs which they say will showcase the "ones to watch" in Irish music.

Guinness Amplify will be hosted in a number of cities, including Dublin, at the end of February.

More than 800 talented musicians, from a mix of genres, have been whittled down to just 22 after uploading their music.

An expert panel helped pick which acts they felt should be given a chance to develop their music career.

Jonny Quinn from Snow Patrol said "The idea that many bands can benefit from recording time and advice from industry professionals is something I'm all for!"

"I've met with artists and bands in the studio and their talent bodes well for the future of Irish music!", he added.

The 22 bands selected will now perform at the Guinness Amplify Live Stages across the country where they'll be playing their music to their biggest crowds yet.

Lisa Fitzsimons, Guinness Marketing Manager, said "The bands... have worked incredibly hard through all stages from the initial Guinness Amplify Live gigs, taking part in the workshops right through to the studio sessions."

"Their talent is undeniable, and we are delighted to provide them with a platform for their music to reach a wider audience", she added.

The Guinness Amplify Live Stages shows will take place in Dublin on Thursday 26th February at The Mercantile on Dame Street.

The bands that will perform on the Dublin leg are The Dead Heavys, Wild Promises and Frankenstein Bolts.
