Pipes were laid for 'geothermal wells' by the original builder who planned a state-of-the-art HQ for Anglo Irish Bank on Dublin's North Wall Quay.

But The Sunday Times claims the Central Bank, who took over the building after Anglo's collapse, decided not to use the high-tech heating system worth 2 million Euro.

The pipes remain in the foundations and could be used in the future however.

The Central Bank building includes a seventh floor café with a terrace and an area for yoga and pilates.
