Teaching unions are to join forces to demand that their members are prioritised for vaccination.

It's after the vaccine priority list was changed last week to an age based approach rather than focusing on vaccinating certain professions first.

The TUI, INTO and ASTI each began their two day annual conferences this morning.

Tomorrow a joint emergency motion will be tabled at each conferences which will seek to commit the unions to work together to demand vaccine prioritization for teachers.

TUI President Martin Marjoram said the decision to prioritise teachers for vaccination was reversed abruptly and disrespectfully.

Tomorrow's joint emergency motion will mandate the unions to explore the possibility of industrial action - should the Government refuse to prioritise the vaccination of teachers as originally planned.
